With a population of eight hundred and fifty, Neola Iowa is located in Western Iowa, one half mile North of Interstate 80, approximately twenty-five miles East of Omaha Nebraska.
For recreation, Neola has a new Community Center with a gym, fitness center and multi-purpose rooms available to rent. Neola offers an indoor swimming pool facility updated in 2006. Arrowhead Park is a county park located two miles southeast of Neola with camping, fishing and picnic areas. Quail Run Golf Course is a nine-hole course located 1/2 mile west of Neola.
Tri-Center is the school system that serves Neola and is located three miles north of town.
The word "Neola" was given to the town by the Pottawattamie Indians. The word means "Lookout", a word that refers to the hillside that the town of Neola was built on. This hillside overlooks the Mosquito and Neola creeks, which pass by Neola on the south and west sides of the city.
